The weather forecasts on Sunday did not look promising for our usual Tuesday and Thursday ride days, so they were changed to Monday and Wednesday – though the forecast rain did not turn up on Tuesday!
Monday away ride – started from the Fieldgate Centre in Kingsclere
Riders: Vanessa, Nick, Mick, JohnH, Lin, Len and Alistair
Stats: 28 miles I 510m ascent I 11.0mph avge
The route:
- Ecchinswell, Highclere, Hamstead Marshall, K&A canal, Newbury Racecourse, Greenham, and Thornford
- Refreshments at The Base, Greenham Common
Wednesday local ride – From the Hampshire Clinic in two groups riding a loop to Mortimer in opposite directions
- Anti-clockwise riders - JohnR, DavidE, Graham, Lin, BrianC, Mick and Ray, who joined this group after Helena had to drop out
- Clockwise riders – Martin, PeterH, Mark, Robert, Simon and Vanessa
- Stats: 26 miles | 325m ascent
- Route: Both routes used the same loop through Newnham, Turgis Green and Stratford Saye and Mortimer, for the coffee stop at The Mortimer Bistro. There was only a steady flow of water as we all made our way through the Clappers Farm Ford.
